I don’t get when fashion magazines point out that one of the Spring’s trends are floral prints. Really? Like we don’t see that every Spring? They should say besides the classical florals this Spring you can expect to see bold stripes and Hawaiian prints. Anyways, I just had to get that out of my chest.
Going with the fact that flowers are always going to be in for Spring, I created this cute hobo below that I called Fiorella Hobo.

We are not even in Spring and I’m already dreaming of a nice tropical beach vacation. While dreaming, I put together this cute ensemble to go with the newest Michinik bag: Tropical Jungle Tote. I wanted to make a tote using the zebra print canvas below but I didn’t know how I was going to make it a Michinik styled bag. So I remembered I had painted some palm trees for another project, and, voilà, problem solved.

So, I’ve been sitting on this new Michinik bag for a while (not literally!). Everything about it was hand made, I had to stitch every single stripe by hand, so it took me a really, really long time to finish it. I almost don’t want to sell it!

I usually spend most of my weekends working on the Michinik handbags business, either making bags or designing them. But last Saturday, I decided I needed a break to enjoy the beautiful New Mexico weather.

Happy New Year everyone! This post might be a little bit late (it should have been posted prior to Christmas) but I say better late than never. The thing is, I started working on this featured Michinik handbag back in September. However, there were some delays such as trips and other projects that took priority. Also, when I was half way through it, I realized that I didn’t have the hardware that I wanted to use on it. So more delay. But here it is.

I’m on a roll this morning! I just finished adding two new items to my Etsy shop and now I’m ready for another post. This time the handbag featured is the Check that Bow. I love how cute it turned out and I am probably making more of the same style.

Wow! I can’t believe it’s already Friday! Where did the week go? It went by so fast, that I forgot to post about another one-of-a-kind Michinik handbag available now on my Etsy shop. The inspiration behind this one was the picture of a Yorkshire Terrier dog. I know that all the rave and craziness revolves around a certain Pomeranian, who is probably the most famous dog in the world right now (he is darn cute and I want one), but Yorkies are cute too!

It’s really hard for me to put my handbags for sale because I love all of them and they are one-of-a-kind. I rarely make the same handbag, unless someone requests it. Finally the TwistedMode Shop on Etsy is live and I am now blogging about it, naturally. The first handbag to be featured is the Celestial Dots Handbag. Since it was one of the first handbags I’ve made, it’s just fair that I feature it first.
The Celestial Dots Handbag is truly one of a kind, even the fabric is custom made. About three years ago I started to play with dyeing silk. I quickly realized that I didn’t have the patience nor the inclination to pursue it as a hobby, so only a few pieces of silk were ever dyed. Fast forward it to the present day, I could finally find a use for that forgotten piece of silk in my closet.

The week went by in a flash and today is again another Game Day. In honor of that, here are some pictures of the Florida State bag that I made for my sister-in-law (don’t worry Kit, I promise I just used it to take the pics). It turned out really cute and I will probably make one for myself as well. This bag will not be available on my Etsy shop (for obvious reasons), but I accept especial orders

It’s been a while since I posted here. I would love to post more often but that is something that requires time and inspiration. I could simply publish style shots, but even though I admire the bloggers who do so, that is just not me. I’ve done that in the beginning, but after a while, it gets old. So for now, most of my style shots will be accompanied by a Michinik handbag. You must be wondering what the heck is Michinik? It’s simply the name of my handbag line.
I’ve been meddling with handbag design for a while and I even took classes on how to work with leather. The tote below was my very first attempt to work with the material. Yay to me! I would love to handle the entire process – from design to the actual manufacturing of my handbags. But unfortunately, that is not very handy since it takes hours to put a handbag together (it’s all handmade) and I have a full time job. So, I’m now facing the daunting task to find a reliable manufacturer (preferably in the US).
If you think it was easy to transfer the Michinik Girl logo to leather, think again!
